Monday Jump Off
Bottom of the Morning to ya my homies and homettes. It's been a slow jump off thus far, not much of worthy to choice from in the hip hop video world. So i'm going to post this here skee-ing video instead. My computer is so jacked up at the moment that I haven't actually been able to listen to it yet, but if the title is any indication of the song, then we will indeed be getting this week off to a righteous start -

Happy Holla Daze
Seeing as how it is that time of the year, I can't pass this one up. We will return to our regularly scheduled Wu Friday next week.

My Uzi Still Weighs a Ton
check the barometer
I'm hotter than the mother fuckin' Sun
check the thermometer
I'm bringing ancient mathematics back to modern man
My momma told me never throw a stone and hide your hand
I got a lot of family, you got a lot of fans
That's why the people got my back like the Verizon man...
The CD Quality version was released last week (available on iTunes) but the Radio Rip version has been getting heavy rotation on the pod since it "dropped" a month 1/2 ago. I mean heavy to the tune of 53 rotations according the pod. Damn, that's a meteoric rise in a short ass amount of time. Before long it'll be tickling the Top 25 Most Played podium. The bottom half anyway. It'll take twice that many plays to knock Shadowboxin' off the top spot. Coincidentally both songs have the best "Fuck That"s in all of musicdom.
I've listened to it so much I almost prefer it to the CDQ. I'm not a particular fan of how either version ends. The Radio Rip cuts off abruptly and the CDQ lingers longer than it needs to with gratuitous narration that only detracts from all of Jay Elec's tight ass rapping that precedes it. Minor quibbles aside, it's Easily one of the best songs of the year. Easily.
And BTW, Happy Winter Solstice. The Wednesday Tall Boy Night Ride is moved to today. However, if this shitty weather keeps up...mmmmaybe not.

One for the Road
This one's for Stevil. Not because there's anything in particular about it that's specific to him. Sure, he enjoys a good BMX vid as much as the next guy. He's probably not much of a GFK fan though. (Although I can't see how any one could dislike this song) No, this Casey Kasem dedication is inspired by the fact that I just ran into him on the mean streets of Hellingham a few hours ago. First time we've met in person and I was only able to recognize him from the bar across his eyes. Met his Mom and significant other too. Good peeps, but you knew that. Next time he's in town we'll have nicer weather, he'll have his bike, and his mom promised to let him come out and play.

Video: Raekwon - Catalina (Live on Jimmy Fallon)
More or less The Roots have been playing constantly in the background the last few days and whether it is coming from the Ipod or my brain I don't know or care. Like anyone cares; anywho - as it is Wu Friday I present you with Rae and The Roots performing Catalina from OB4CL2. Super tight all around, but I gotta say I think Black Thought's verse is the highlight. Judge for yourself...
Aight here it is.
